Bible Verses of the Day

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! [Matthew 7:7-11, ESV]

The Biden-Harris Administration, through the U.S. Department of Commerce, announced a preliminary memorandum of terms with Intel Corporation, offering up to $8.5 billion in funding under the CHIPS and Science Act to enhance U.S. semiconductor manufacturing.

  • The funding aims to strengthen the U.S. supply chain, re-establish American leadership in semiconductor technology, and ensure domestic development and manufacturing of advanced logic chips essential for AI and other cutting-edge technologies.

  • This initiative is part of the broader CHIPS and Science Act goals to manufacture critical technologies in America, lead global innovation, and create domestic jobs, marking the Department of Commerce’s fourth PMT under the act.

  • Over the next five years, Intel plans to invest over $100 billion in expanding its U.S. operations, directly creating over 10,000 manufacturing jobs and nearly 20,000 construction jobs across Arizona, New Mexico, Ohio, and Oregon.

  • The PMT includes $50 million specifically for workforce development in semiconductor manufacturing and construction, adding to Intel’s $250 million investment over the past five years in workforce initiatives.

  • U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger highlight the deal as a monumental step towards revitalizing American manufacturing, securing economic and national security, and maintaining U.S. leadership in AI and semiconductor technology.

It’s a bad day for bugs. Earlier today, Sentry announced its AI Autofix feature for debugging production code and now, a few hours later, GitHub is launching the first beta of its code-scanning autofix feature for finding and fixing security vulnerabilities during the coding process. This new feature combines the real-time capabilities of GitHub’s Copilot with CodeQL, the company’s semantic code analysis engine. The company first previewed this capability last November.

GitHub promises that this new system can remediate more than two-thirds of the vulnerabilities it finds — often without the developers having to edit any code themselves. The company also promises that code scanning autofix will cover more than 90% of alert types in the languages it supports, which are currently JavaScript, Typescript, Java, and Python.
